Robert Ragle, b. April 3, 1832 in Orange County, IN. Robert was the oldest son of Peter Ragle Sr. and Margaret Wadsworth Ragle to survive to adulthood. He died August 23, 1901. His wife, Nancy Richardson, was b. November 14, 1834 and died April 18, 1898. Nancy is buried in the Raglesville Cemetery.
Due to an injury, Robert did not serve in the Civil War. Instead, he "kept the home fires burning" by serving as caretaker to the local M. E. church in Raglesville. After the war, the church building site was formally deeded over to Jesse Trueblood, Thomas Wadsworth, and Robert Ragle.
The 1870 Daviess Co. IN census for Madison Twp, p. 267b, dwelling 64, shows Robert and Nancy living with their five children Hester A., Margaret, Hayden H., Mary M., and Nancy.
